In a world that appears more connected than ever, but suffers from an epidemic of loneliness, there is a simple and powerful way of showing up that can create ripples of real healing and connection. Using personal stories and experiences, Director of Athletics, Desireé Reed-Francois will show how scars lead to empathy, and simple actions of support can create a chain reaction leading to compassionate leadership and real success.


Desireé Reed- Francois was named Vice President and Director of Athletics at the University of Arizona in 2024. She is the first female Athletic Director not only at the University of Arizona, but at a public institution in the Southeastern Conference and in the history of the Big 12 Conference. Prior to Arizona, Reed- Francois served as the Director of Athletics at the University of Missouri and at UNLV. Reed- Francois has consistently prioritized student-athlete experience, has a tremendous track record in hiring head coaches, many of whom would become conference Coach of the Year, and is a prolific fundraiser. She was named 2023-2024 NACDA Athletic Director of the Year for her record setting fundraising, marketing, and football success. Desiree and her husband Josh are proud parents of Arizona Men’s Basketball student-athlete Jackson Francois. She completed her bachelor’s degree as a rower at UCLA and her juris doctorate at the University of Arizona. Desiree is also a member of the California Bar.
