As a proud third-generation Tucsonan, Halley's deep-rooted connection to the Sonoran desert and the rich cultural tapestry of Tucson ignite her commitment to sustainability and environmental justice. Embracing the power of empathy, diversity, and inclusion, she envisions them as catalysts for profound change. Halley identifies herself as both a scientist and a storyteller, but it's the dynamic intersection of these roles that truly inspires her. Her interests span topics such as decolonization, environmental justice, relocalization, and community-led development. Halley's prior research has delved into critical issues such as energy poverty, heat mitigation, and climate resilience. Now, she eagerly harnesses her communication skills to give back to her cherished community and the Earth, both of whom have played pivotal roles in shaping her journey of championing place-based expertise and intersectionality.
